Kenmore suburb profile
The leafy suburb of Kenmore in Brisbane sits between 10 – 12 kilometres from the CBD. Considered one of the prestigious suburbs of Brisbane, it is accessible by Coronation Drive or Milton Road that both connect to either Moggill Road or the Centenary Highway. It is a suburb of rolling hills, plentiful trees and abundant birdlife.
Kenmore as a suburb is well catered for in terms of services. There are numerous sporting fields, walking and cycling tracks and dog parks. The bus services are regular and connect Kenmore to surrounding suburbs and Brisbane City via Southbank and the Cultural Centre precinct. Services to Chapel Hill, Fig Tree Pocket, Brookfield, Kenmore and Moggill all run through Kenmore providing numerous options. The closest train station is at Indooroopilly which is a 14 minute train ride to the city.
There are a number of pre-schools and schools including the oldest in the district, Kenmore State School, founded in 1900. A second primary school, Kenmore South State School, was built in 1967 and Kenmore High in 1972 to meet the demands of a growing suburb. Kenmore State High School has an excellent academic record and is a popular choice. There are also numerous private school options available.
The two main shopping centres that service the district are Kenmore Village on the roundabout at Moggill and Brookfield Roads and Kenmore Plaza further towards the city on Moggill Road. Kenmore Plaza also has a hotel and in the last 15 years, restaurants, cafes and specialty shops have developed on major arterial roads including Moggill Road where the first shops were developed in the 1950s. Kenmore is also close at hand to the major shopping centres at Indooroopilly and Mount Ommaney.
Kenmore is a suburb with a diversity of housing styles from modest three-bedroom timber or brick and tile post war homes to modern contemporary designs. Kenmore is expected to continue to experience strong growth in the real estate market due to ongoing demand for housing that is easy driving distance from the CBD.
