Brookfield is a prestigious acreage suburb of Brisbane located 14 kilometres to the west of the Brisbane CBD. A very leafy semi-rural suburb on the foothills of Mt Elphinstone the lifestyle here is predominantly acreage although the suburb now has two highly sought after residential estates – Huntington and Kensington. Brookfield Meadows, a smaller development of quality homes on larger blocks is located in between.
Brookfield is home to the historical Brookfield Cemetery which has graves dating back to the early 1880s. The old town hall, which once existed in Darra, is located in the suburb’s main street.
The annual Brookfield Show, which had its beginnings in 1906, is a highlight event each year and is held over three days attracting crowds from around the state. The show is well known for all the things you would expect from sideshow alley to produce, needlework, crafts, live stock and of course equestrian events, fireworks and other ringside activities. The Brookfield Ball marks the start of the show festivities, a black tie event not to be missed however tickets are becoming increasingly harder to obtain.
